Residence Education Coordinators
Residence Education Coordinators (RECs) are full-time professionals who live in a residential community and are responsible for the educational and operational functions of the living area. They manage residential areas and supervise the Graduate Assistants (GAs) and Resident Advisors (RAs). RECs have college degrees and significant experience working with college students. Support Staff, Housekeeping and Maintenance Staff
Critical to our operations, our support staff members in the Central Office, Technology Services, Residence Life, Financial Services and Facilities services, as well as our maintenance and housekeeping team members, help to keep Housing and Residence Life delivering the highest possible service levels to our residents and guests. Security Guards work at reception desks from 11:15 PM to 6:45 AM on most evenings. Security Guards monitor main building entrances, make building tours and enforce policies and procedures. In addition, they provide services such as issuing loan keys, responding to emergency situations and checking out equipment. STUDENT EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Graduate Assistants (GAs) support the Residence Education Coordinators in managing and supervising many of our residential areas. In apprenticeship positions, these graduate students gain experience in all facets of housing and residence life while pursuing advanced degrees. Learn more.
Resident Advisors (RAs) are part-time paraprofessional staff members of the Department of Housing and Residence Life who live in an assigned residential area. RAs work closely with and are supervised by Graduate Assistants and Residence Education Coordinators who also live and work in the residence halls. RAs serve as valuable campus resources and have many different responsibilities including community building, programming and policy enforcement. RAs spend significant time getting to know and building relationships with and among their residents. Most importantly, they work hard to foster communities in their halls which are welcoming and conducive to living and learning. Desk Assistant (Loan Key Halls)
The main responsibilities of the Desk Assistant is to provide loan key services to residential students in their assigned Village. Loan Key desks are open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week during the academic year and the Desk Assistants provide coverage while the Loan Key Desk Operator and Security Guards are not present. Desk Assistants are expected to work evenings, weekends and holidays. We are now accepting Desk Assistant applications for the 2017-2018 year. Housing Ambassadors are primarily responsible for conducting daily tours of housing facilities, participating in housing recruitment events, providing customer service to students and their families during campus visits and providing general office support for Housing and Residence Life as needed. Candidates for the Housing Ambassador position should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They should be knowledgeable and committed to learning more about UNC Charlotte and the Department of Housing and Residence Life. Maintenance or Housekeeping Student Assistant

This paid internship position is offered through the UPIP program. The Marketing Assistant provides support to the Marketing team of the Department of Housing and Residence Life through graphic design, video production and social media coordination. Learn more.
Office Assistant (Non-Loan Key Halls)
The main responsibilities of the Office Assistant is to provide services to residential students in their assigned community. Residence Hall offices are open during peak hours of the academic year based on the needs of the community. Office Assistants are expected to work throughout the day, some weekends, and limited holidays. We are now accepting Office Assistant applications for the 2017-2018 year. Summer Resident Advisor, Conference Housing Assistant, Summer Student Assistant
Summer Resident Advisors perform many of the same functions as our academic year Resident Advisors by providing assistance, information and support to residential students. Conference Housing Assistants work in our buildings to provide service and support to our summer conference guests. These include sport camp and academic camp participants, SOAR participants and their parents, as well as a variety of other University guests.
