Rob Sewell comes to Housing and Residence Life from Recreational Facilities Management, where he was the Assistant Director and Operations Manager. As Associate Director for Business Services, he serves as a member of the Department of Housing and Residence Life's central management team with primary responsibility for providing leadership, management, and fiscal accountability for the largest auxiliary operation on the UNC Charlotte campus. Rob is also responsible for developing and managing a unified departmental budget, by determining housing income and managing the procurement of expenditures. He administers external contracts for residential student services such as Internet, cable TV, telephones, apartment electrical power, and laundry services. These services directly impact students' satisfaction with campus living. He analyzes financial reports and projects monthly, quarterly, and annually, making financial projections and identifying trends for the management team's decision making and prioritization of projects and initiatives. Rob also coordinates various levels of staff on purchasing efforts, accounts payable functions, student and temporary wage employment through university policy interpretation, development of departmental procedures, problem resolution to provide quality service to residential students. Rob directs planning and resource schedules for special projects, maintenance reserves, and select capital projects, manages the Security Guard staff, loan key operations, and the electronic building access systems. Finally, Rob has supervisory responsibility for the department's Assignments Office, and thus indirectly manages housing contracts, room assignments, and contributes towards preparing the residence halls for student occupancy.
Rob completed undergraduate degrees from the University of Cincinnati and Regents College, and has his MBA from Pfeiffer University. HRL is happy to welcome Rob to the central management team! |

Jan serves as the Department's accountant and internal auditor. Duties include reconciliation of all revenue and expenditures, Facilities Management billing analysis, utility expense tracking, interdepartmental transfers, journal entries, annual operational balance sheet, financial analysis and projections, and other special reports as needed for administrative planning. Jan has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Troy State University. |

As the Administrative Support Specialist for Business Services, Debra is responsible for assisting Housing and Residence Life staff with their purchasing needs, as well as managing the student and non-student temporary wage employee appointment process and payroll time sheets.
