Team Members in the Office of the Associate Director
Peter Thorsett

As the Associate Director for Technology and Marketing Services, Peter is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day I.T. operations and marketing programs of the Department. He is also responsible for coordinating long-term technology strategy.

Peter joined HTS in 2004 from Georgia State University's College of Law where he was the head of their Web & Instructional Technology unit. Peter has over 10 years of experience in corporate and higher education information technology. He holds a BSBA in Public Administration from the University of Tennessee, an MBA in Electronic Commerce (Marketing)/Computer Information Systems from Georgia State University, and is currently writing his dissertation on large scale systems deployment as part of his Ph.D. candidacy at Georgia State.

Peter is active in the higher education technology community. He has served as President of the Management Division of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) and has presented or published research on technological and marketing issues with organizations such as ACUHO-I I.T., the American Association of Law Libraries, the Southern Industrial Relations and Human Resource Conference, the Organizational Behavior Teaching Society, and the Center for Computer Assisted Legal Instruction. He holds active memberships in AECT, AERA, ISACA, and ACUHO-I.

Cassandra joined HTS in 2009 as our Technology Projects Coordinator. In this role, Ms. Phillips is responsible for the oversight of our technology project portfolio and works with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that projects are delivered on-time and within budget. Ms. Phillips also assists with the management of purchasing. Cassandra holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing Systems from North Carolina A&T University.

Meet Adam Drye

Adam has been with HTS since 2005. Mr. Drye is responsible for all of the department's server hardware, network services, and support functions for our administrative systems within HTS. He is also responsible for our non-resident based systems such as TMA and BEST Lock. Adam holds a BSBA in Management Information Systems from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Matthew joined HTS as a Technology Support Technician in 2008. Since then, he has taken on a new role in HTS as our Server Administrator. In this role Matthew oversees the day to day operations of our server environment and ensures that all of our systems are secure and compliant with relevant operating procedures.  Matthew is a graduate of Appalachian State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems.  During his tenure at App State, he completed an independent study project in IT that won a national award and was presented at a global IT conference by App State MIS faculty members.

Clayton joined the HTS Administrative Systems team in the Fall of 2009 as a Technology Support Technician. In this role, Clayton assists Housing and Residence Life employees with their computer hardware and software questions and problems. He also oversees our three Residential Computer Labs and works with the team on general infrastructure tasks. Clayton earned his Bachelor's degree at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, majoring in Sports Marketing.

Joshua has been with HTS since 2002. As our Manager of Systems Development, he is responsible for the ongoing management, maintenance, and development activities related to our Nyumba Gateway System as well as overseeing our database and reporting services functions. Joshua holds a BSBA in Management Information Systems from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

 


Garrett Johnson

Garrett joined HTS and our Systems Development team after spending several years as a freelance web developer. His previous work includes projects for Worship Planning (.com), Holland Transfer Company, and Kid City Preschool, to name just a few. Garrett will be providing assistance with the ongoing implementation of Nyumba, especially focusing on N3, the next generation of Nyumba. He has completed coursework with the Art Institute of Charlotte in interactive media and web design, and is completing a bachelor's degree in information technology at Strayer University.


Meet Chad Morgan

Chad joined HTS as the team's Database Administrator. Prior to joining HTS, Chad worked in the private sector in a post-sales support role building, deploying, and assisting customers with automated tool management systems and their related databases. As a member of our team, he is responsible for overseeing our various databases and reporting systems that are used by the Department and its partners. Chad holds a BSBA in Computer Information Systems from Appalachian State University.

Carolyn joined HTS in 2007 as the team's Help Desk Analyst. Prior to joining HTS, Carolyn worked with the University's Office of Student Success and Retention supporting the administration of the Learning Community program. Today, Carolyn is responsible for overseeing our help desk operations as well as coordinating the development and delivery of our staff I.T. training programs for Housing specific applications. Carolyn is a certified Training Manager (The Training Clinic, 2008).

Zach joined HTS in the Fall of 2009 as a Help Desk Specialist. Zach previously worked for Housing and Residence Life as a member of our Residence Life team, serving as a Residence Coordinator (RC) in Hawthorn Hall. Zach brings this wealth of experience to his new position in HTS where he is responsible for first tier technical support for users of Housing and Residence Life operated systems. Zach also coordinates the Housing Travel Desk and assists Carolyn Thigpen with training and marketing projects. Zach holds a Master of Science in Education from The University of Kansas (with a Concentration in Higher Education Administration) and a BBA with double majors in Management and Economics.
