Special Interest Options

Housing and Residence Life at UNC Charlotte offers gender affirming housing assignments. While all housing assignments are made based on the students’ sex, gender affirming housing options enable students to request a housing assignment that may more effectively meet their gender identity needs. Students are offered the opportunity to select their housing options from a limited number of spaces reserved for students of the same sex who choose to live with others interested in affirming gender identities.

If you would like to consider this housing option, please respond Yes to the Gender Affirming question in the Special Housing Interest Options section of your housing application, apply via the Online Housing System. You can also request consideration for placement in Gender Affirming housing by completing this form.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact Chelsea Ortiz at cortiz13@uncc.edu.

One of the most important choices you can make during your graduate education is where you will live while pursuing your studies. Living on campus at UNC Charlotte is so much more than just a room in a building. It is a lifestyle with convenient access to academic and research resources, light rail, campus dining as well as campus health and wellness services.

Housing and Residence Life supports our graduate student residents by assigning interested students to our limited on campus apartments with other graduate or post-traditional students (24+ years old) in Pine Hall. Don’t wait too long to explore this option. The space is reserved for graduate students until July 1. Additionally, graduate students can live anywhere on campus except in freshmen-only space. You can explore the rest of our residence halls here

If you would like to be a part of the graduate reserved housing for the 2021-2022 academic year, please contact us at hrlmailbox@uncc.edu or 704‑687‑7501.

You asked for it and we listened!

Each year we will allow residents to be assigned to designated spaces in Martin Hall and Independent Greek Village Houses with their pet. Please note that limited spaces will be available for this program and interested residents will be assigned on a first come, first served basis.
