Two Graduate Assistants posing with balloons

Graduate Hall Advisor FAQs

We have seven graduate assistantships available in Housing and Residence Life and typically need to fill 3-5 of these positions each year.

Applications will go through an initial screening in early March. Qualified candidates will then be invited to participate in up to 2 rounds of Zoom or phone interviews. Initial hiring decisions are finalized by mid-April. We will continue to fill vacancies as needed after this time.

As a GHA, you would work with and be supervised by a Residence Education Coordinator (REC) or an Assistant Director (AD).

GHA’s meet with their direct supervisor minimally once a week to discuss and check in about work related tasks, projects and committees, and to receive personal and professional support and guidance. As an In-Hall GHA, you will assist your REC with direct supervision of Resident Advisors within your assigned building. Administrative Grads will be supervised and receive advising from their assigned Residence Life Leadership Team Member, (RLLT). Admin Grads typically provide supervision for the following Student Leadership Teams, RSA, NRHH, and Street Team.

All questions regarding the Graduate Hall Advisor position and recruitment process can be directed to the following email: hrlrecruitment@charlotte.edu.
