This summer, we will showcase the majority of our on campus living unit types. Guided tours will take place May 28-July 31, Monday through Friday, on the hour, beginning at 11:00 am, with the last tour beginning at 3:00 pm. Tours of the residence halls listed below will begin at the specified Village’s Loan Key Desk.

North Village

The Summer Housing Application is available now! Summer Housing will be available in Wallis Hall for summer 2018. There are two housing terms available: Summer I (May 20 - June 27) and Summer II (July 3 - August 10). A separate application must be submitted for each term, along with a $50 deposit per term. 

Who is eligible for Summer Housing?
UNC Charlotte students who are enrolled in summer school classes or students who are pre-registered for Fall 2018 classes and currently enrolled for the Spring 2018 semester are eligible to live in Summer Housing. Incoming freshmen for Fall 2018 who are not enrolled in summer school classes are not eligible to live in Summer Housing.

Students enrolled in summer classes should complete the application that coincides with the term they are taking classes. Students taking classes during both terms, and those who need to live on campus continuously from the end of spring semester to the beginning of fall semester, need to complete both housing applications.

UNC Charlotte offers safe, affordable housing on a traditional university campus for college students with internships or co-ops in the Charlotte area. UNC Charlotte is located in northeast Charlotte, conveniently located off North Tryon, I-85 and I-485. Our campus is less than 10 miles and approximately 20-30 minutes from Center City (Uptown) by car, and is directly connected to Center City by the Lynx Light rail Blue Line Extension.

There is not a deadline for Intern Housing applications, however intern housing does fill to capacity. Interns are encouraged to apply before April 1. Assignments are made based on date of completed application and space availability. An Intern Housing application is not considered complete until the application and deposit are both received.

This week, students planning to live on campus for fall 2018 will submit their residence preferences. As you consider your options, please be aware of a significant campus change that will soon be underway—and how that might affect your housing decision.

Moore Hall and Sanford Hall have been designated to be replaced. After careful evaluation, it has been determined that the cost to renovate these long standing structures is much higher than building a single new, modern one. Both halls will be open for fall—with Moore Hall earmarked for demolition in January 2019.

Students choosing Moore Hall for fall are able to secure a private single room at the double tower rate and will receive priority placement for spring 2019—to offset the inconvenience of moving out at the conclusion of the fall semester. In addition, these students will be given moving assistance to their spring 2019 on-campus locations. (Note: Sanford Hall will be open for the entire 2018-19 academic year and demolished soon after.)

The University is committed to offering a range of contemporary and affordable on-campus housing options to ensure greater access to the opportunity of a UNC Charlotte education, particularly with the continuing development of higher-priced rental units in and around University City. At the same time, the arrival of light rail on campus in March and reduced pricing for student riders makes on-campus living an attractive and viable option for more students. This new hall is part of a wave of coming campus improvements, including the new health and wellness center, new Admissions and visitors center, renovations to the Career Center, and new science building.

We are proud to announce that the renovation of our new office is complete. As of this morning, we have successfully moved into the Housing and Residence Life building located in South Village. The main entrance of our office faces Sanford Hall (see attached map).

Interested in changing rooms or pulling in new roommates for Spring 2018?  All current residents who will be living with us this Spring will have the opportunity to participate in online room changes for next semester on Thursday, November 30 or Friday, December 1. Our new online process is a convenient and easy way for residents to attempt to get into preferred spaces or pull in new roommates. The process is very similar to our previous in person room change process except for the creation of roommate groups. 

Here is how it will work:

Step 1 - If you are only completing a room change for yourself without any desired roommates, skip this step and proceed to STEP 3. If you are interested in pulling a current or future resident into a vacant space in your unit, first you and your desired roommates will need to create a roommate group before you can process your room changes. To create a roommate group, go to now and log into your housing account. Select Room Changes and then Create or Update Roommate Group.  In order to be able to pull in roommates, you must invite the new desired roommates to the roommate group. You will need your desired roommates student ID numbers to submit  invitations to the group.  All participants must accept or decline the invitation before roommate group placements can be made during room changes.  

Step 2 - If you want to pull roommate(s) into a vacancy in your unit for Spring 2018 OR convert your existing double tower to a single, you need to make sure that you do this online November 30 between 7:00 am - 12:00 pm to be eligible for priority placement. If pulling in roommates into vacancies in your unit, you will be able to complete these actions as long as your invites to your roommate group have been accepted and the desired space is available. Select Priority Roommate Pull-In or Priority Double to Single Conversion options and follow screen prompts. Click on the icon to lock the desired spaces. Once you finish the process, you will receive an email confirming that the action has been submitted. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are pulling in new Spring 2018 residents, you will need to choose a meal plan for them as well. Make sure you know what they want.You will receive a confirmation from the Housing and Residence Life Office once your requests have been processed. 
Step 3 - If you are simply doing a room change for yourself, you can visit to log into your housing account on December 1between 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Select Room Change(with optional Roommate Pull-in) and simply follow screen prompts to search for available spaces in desired room types and living areas. You will only see available spaces for which you are eligible. Once you find an available space, click on the icon to lock the desired space for yourself. Once you finish the process, you will receive an email confirming that the action has been submitted. Please log back into your housing account to check your assignment to ensure that you see your requested space listed as one of your assignments for Spring 2018.
Step 4 - If you want to complete a room change for yourself AND pull in a roommate on December 1 between 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm, make sure that you have created your roommate group (see STEP 1). Look for spaces to accommodate you and your desired roommates together (ie if you want to pull in two others, you need to find a unit with three vacancies).  Remember that your roommate group must exist before you can pull them into a unit with you. First - search for available spaces in desired room types and living areas. Select and lock spaces for yourself and the others. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are pulling in new Spring 2018 residents, you will need to choose a meal plan for them as well. Make sure you know what they want.  Once you finish the process, you and the members of your roommate group will receive an email confirming that the action has been submitted. 
Please note that once you process room changes, your original Spring 2018 space(s) will no longer be available for you and will immediately become available for others interested in room changes. Once we have confirmed the final processing of your Spring 2018 room change, you will receive your final confirmation of the submitted room change.
